While visiting a church one Sunday I listened as the minister preached on generational curses. The message guided the listener through some passages in the old testament of the bible and gave an account for judgment in one’s life or curses due to actions or the sins of our Fathers. This curse was disabling the blessings of God and was blocking the full inheritance and prosperity of the believer. The generational curse had to be removed, prayed for and the believer delivered from it’s power to stop God’s purpose and flow in their life.
I have heard many messages on this subject. For awhile there it was a very popular message. Maybe still is, I don’t know, I have tuned myself out from such nonsense. At the end of the service there was an altar call for the church and all in attendance. I watched as many, many self proclaimed born again, blood bought, Jesus believing folks made their way to the altar for the curse of God on their families to be removed because of something someone did somewhere back in their family tree. I was shocked at the numbers who went forward, I began to weep in my spirit. I began to pray, so troubled by the crowd and the misunderstanding of the cross, the power of the blood and of His resurrection.
I recall some of the verses that were quoted and used for the purpose of the sermon and many sermon preached on the subject.
Exodus 20:5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me.
Numbers 14:18 The LORD is longsuffering, and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation.
Exodus 34:7, “Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting (punishing) the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children’s children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.”
Lamentations 5:7, “Our fathers have sinned, and are not; and we have borne (been punished for) their iniquities.”
There are so many verses in the old testament dealing with blessings and curses. And God did pronounce curses for generation for those who rebelled and did not keep His commandment, always calling the people back to His presence so He could demonstrate His mercy and forgiveness.
In Deuteronomy 24 vs. 16 it states The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, neither shall the children be put to death for the fathers: every man shall be put to death for his own sin. God made every person responsible for there own sin, as it is today, we are responsible for our relationship with God, nothing our family or forefathers has done can hinder or elevate our relationship with Him.
Friends is the power of the blood and the cross of Christ limited. Does the sacrifice of the Lord only have power in certain parts of life, is it only for the present, or future or past.
Is the cross and the blood of Christ complete to break any curse any bondage in any situation? We call ourselves the redeemed of Christ, sanctified, (set apart) justified, (just as if , the penalty paid, Christ and the cross) and the righteousness of God (given a right standing in Him).
Dearly beloved of Jesus Christ who has who hath bewitched you, Why have we believed and bought into this false doctrine that blood bought children of God may be carrying generational curses. Do you not know or have you failed to understand the power of the blood of Christ. Do you follow these so blindly that you believe there is more that must be done, that the sacrifice and the blood of Jesus Christ the Lord Almighty, the Lamb of God has not the power to deliver completely.
Why do they preach such things? For the glory of men… To entangle you with curses so they can demonstrate their ability to deliver you. A show and a charade, craftsmen and experts in the art of cunning and notoriety, going as far as to limit the power of your salvation.
Galatians 3:13 states, Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: We are free for the law of death, He, Jesus Christ bore the curse for us, every curse since the fall of man in the garden was placed on that cross, our sin every sin of mankind since the beginning. When we confess Him, the cross, the cleansing of His blood and the power of His resurrection and believe in our heart He is, we are free we become new, a new creation in Christ.
Hebrews 9:12 says, Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
We have been purged, the old man is dead and been buried, we are a new creation in Christ and haven been resurrected with Him.
Do you understand, do you understand the power of the blood. Able to deliver the mind body and soul, past, present and future.
Submit yourself, look to the cross understand the power of the blood, walk in His commands, Know the word and walk in the truth of the Spirit. Be not beguiled, there was, there is and always will be power in the blood. Complete and in totality, nothing left out.
John 19:30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.
