Is a dollar of “Cap and Trade” equal to a dollar to a starving homeless person?
I think not.
Economics has essentially been removed from politics. Our forefathers warned us against that, and they would shudder at the rich getting filthy rich, while the poor stay poor and unloved. Still, the handout policy does not work. Only the hand up programs have shown success.
Somehow our society has determined that it is the responsibility of government to care for the poor. Nothing could be further from the truth. If the government gave a trillion and a half dollars to those who make less than $5800 a year, that would be less than a week’s wages for each person.
The one who gives to the poor will not lack, but whoever shuts his eyes to them will receive many curses.
Over ten years, that same poor person will make a total of $2000 more, on average. In the same period, the top 1% will each bring in $1,455,000 apiece.
A billion people could starve to death today worldwide. Jesus demanded that we never allow this to happen. Will those who are totally ignoring Him pay in the end?
The one who shuts his ears to the cry of the poor, he too will cry out and will not be answered.
Listen, my dear brothers and sisters! Did not God choose the poor in the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom that he promised to those who love him?
I believe that what He told His disciples should be heeded by us, too.
Jesus said to him, “If you wish to be perfect, go sell your possessions and give the money1 to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”
Open your mouth, judge in righteousness, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.
What would a trillion dollars do for the needy of our country?
What will a trillion dollars of health care “reform” do? It will go into the pockets of the health care industry who incidentally are the major contributors of Congress and the President.
America has lost its way. By ignoring what the Bible actually says, our leaders have failed our country. I am not predicting whether we will rediscover our path by some day following the Constitution and the founding documents of America. I really have no idea.
I do believe that we have allowed all the power players to unite against the people. I cannot see how these people will have the courage to resist satan who now seems to be running the overall politics of our land. Sure, that is puny and cowardly leadership. Sure, most average Americans could do far, far better. We should show our love for our needy brothers and sisters with help.
John answered them, “The person who has two tunics must share with the person who has none, and the person who has food must do likewise.”
I do wonder if Americans will figure out that Bubba would be better than Obama (or Bush – this is hardly partisan). Common sense has no place in our society, now. The perversion of the natural order of our country has confused people.
I thought I remembered Obama saying he was going to help the poor. What is up with that? Revival and revolution might work, what do you think?
So he answered them, “Go tell John what you have seen and heard: The blind see, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, the poor have good news proclaimed to them.
Will we be like Jesus?
By all these things, I have shown you that by working in this way we must help the weak, and remember the words of the Lord Jesus that he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’
